#5 - Tom Peters
"Leaders win through logistics. Vision, sure. Strategy, yes. But when you go to war, you need to have both toilet paper and bullets at the right place at the right time. In other words, you must win through superior logistics." – Tom Peters, Rule #3: Leadership Is Confusing As Hell, Fast Company, March 2001
This quote speaks to the sheer importance of logistics, the act of thinking about the complexities of the movement of important players to procure, maintain, and supply equipment. Although Tom Peters is referring to war, the meaning of his quote can be readily and easily applied to the third-party logistics industry.
#4 - Fleet ADM Ernest J. King
"The war has been variously termed a war of production and a war of machines. Whatever else it is, so far as the United States is concerned, it is a war of logistics." – Fleet ADM Ernest J. King, in a 1946 report to the Secretary of the Navy
No matter how fast you manufacture a product or how good it is, if the product does not get into the hands of the customer on time when they expect it, it's all for naught. Most often than not reputation is bolstered by timeliness. That's why you should enlist a 3PL company to help out.
#3 - Lt. Gen. Frederick Franks
"Forget logistics, you lose." – Lt. Gen. Fredrick Franks, USA, 7th Corps Commander, Desert Storm
You'd think that superior military tactics would be the deciding factor of a war, but according to Lt. Gen. Frederick Franks, it's logistics. This goes against what many people believe about war -- and indeed the transportation logistics industry: having a superior product or marketing plan (for war, weapons and military tactics) won't make up for the fact that your customers (soldiers) are not receiving their supplies when they need them.
#2 - General Nathaniel Green
"Logistics is the stuff that if you don't have enough of, the war will not be won as soon as." – General Nathaniel Green, Quartermaster, American Revolutionary Army
Same thing goes for if you don't have a reliable 3PL company to help you manage your freight, warehousing, and distribution.
#1 - Maj. Gen. Julian Thompson
"Only a commander who understand logistics can push the military machine to the limits without risking total breakdown." – Maj.Gen. Julian Thompson, Royal Marines
Logistics is what we do here at ADLI Logistics. You can rest assured that we can push the supply chain machine to its limits without risking total breakdown!
